Arnolfini tour

Posted: July 23rd, 2007 | Author: Tristan Manco | Filed under: Art | No Comments »

Last weekend I was asked to give a tour at the Arnolfini, Bristol’s main contemporary arts centre. The current summer show is split across 5 galleries. Gallery one featured work by New York artists, Eileen Quilan and Cheyney Thompson – who are husband and wife team. All the other galleries were taken up by Glasgow born artist Lucy McKenzie.

Although I was not blown away by anything in either show, Eileens photographs taken with analogue cameras and only using smoke and mirrors as the subject are growing on me (pictured above). Even though they are not a “new” idea there are some nice images of her work here.

I recently attended the Difusor (Stencil Art) Festival in Barcelona, where I gave a lecture – so much happened in just a few days so the best place to read about it is here – http://www.bcnstreetart.blogspot.com/ includes hot topics such as Pure Evil’s shorts and a short interview with yours truly.

I was also interviewed recently for a Portuguese magazine called Dif – you can download the whole magazine here – http://www.difmag.com/

Photo above was one of the posters for the event posted in Barrio Gotico

Since I started work on my last book Graffiti Brasil a few years ago I became a fan of the Choque Cultural gallery in Sao Paulo.

A few years later I am proud to be partnering with them with a worldwide on-line store and gallery - http://www.choquecultural.co.uk/

In the next months we’ll be producing new screenprints which will be available worldwide.
