CV
I have been a practising designer and illustrator since 1990. After completing a BA Hons Visual Communications degree at Wolverhampton University I then moved to Bristol where my first creative jobs were as a mural painter, flyer designer and creator of club visuals.
In 1992 I was appointed as the first in-house designer for Real World - http://www.realworld.co.uk. Over the following seven years I have had the opportunity to work with many great recording artists (including Peter Gabriel, Afro Celts and The Blind Boys of Alabama), fine artists and designers such as Peter Saville, Malcolm Garrett, Jamie Reid and Alex Mayhew.
During this time I designed around 50 music CD’s including “Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Michael Brook: Night Song”, “Joi: We Are Three” and “The Five Blind Boys of Alabama: Spirit of the Century”. I was also involved in design and art direction for many award-winning animation, multimedia and video projects.
In 2000, I went freelance working for clients such as BBC Bristol, Real World Records, WOMAD, Channel V & MCI  Music. At the same time I started work on my first book for Thames and Hudson - “Stencil Graffiti”.
After two years I then formed a design agency called Tijuana with Tony Stiles and later David Redfern. Clients included Arnolfini, Cheltenham Festivals, Encounters Festivals, EMI  Music, Modern Art Oxford, Soil Association, University of Bristol, Watershed Media Centre, Artpoint & Bath Festivals Trust.
In 2006, I became freelance again. I have just finished designing and writing a new book for Thames and Hudson called “Street Sketchbook”. Freelance projects also include; art direction and graphic design for clients such as Modern Art Oxford, Habitat and Blue Q, lecturing, writing and teaching.
