At the beginning of August I had the great pleasure of giving two talks at the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia for the faculty of Design. The invitation was part of a three month long project called Memoria Canalla (Memories of the Walls) – http://www.flickr.com/photos/memoriacanalla/3832333148/
Many thanks to all those who invited me including the artists Bastardilla and Stinkfish who under the name Hogar were the organisers of the Memoria Canalla project.
Thanks also to Third World Pirate for your hospitality and for finding this spot to paint – the first time in years that I’ve painted on the wall myself!
Thanks to Jhoana Mora for inviting me to the EsquinaNorte design conference in Tijuana, Mexico in September 08.
The speakers and events were excellent and it finally gave me an excuse to visit Tijuana. Since being a director of Tijuana Design for a number of years in was a coming home of sorts.
Nuart is a street art festival held in Stavanger, Norway which has built up a great reputation over the years. I was very pleased to be invited this year to take part in a couple of presentions – one of them alongside the artist Blek Le Rat. It was also a good opportunity to mix with artists I’ve known for many years such as Blek and Nick Walker, as well as meet artists I hadn’t met before like Herakut. Photos here of work by Herakut, M-City and Dolk.
I recently attended the Difusor (Stencil Art) Festival in Barcelona, where I gave a lecture – so much happened in just a few days so the best place to read about it is here – http://www.bcnstreetart.blogspot.com/ includes hot topics such as Pure Evil’s shorts and a short interview with yours truly.
I was also interviewed recently for a Portuguese magazine called Dif – you can download the whole magazine here – http://www.difmag.com/

A couple of weeks back I gave two talks in Bucharest. It was my first time in Eastern Europe so it was a very new experience for me. The first took place at a creative agency – Cohn and Jansen, where I demonstrated my work practice in design.
The second was on the invitation of Vlad Nanca where we disussed the relationship between public art/street art and the gallery space. Thanks to all those who participated in the presentations.
This week I was invited to Lisbon to take part in the Red Bull street gallery project. Although it was sponsored by a commercial brand, Red Bull guaranteed a non-interference stance. The idea was that 10 Portuguese urban artists from a variety of backgrounds would put out work in the streets for the International Museum Day to create alternative public museums/galleries for the day. The artists were given all they needed in order to carry out their individual pieces which were placed nearby to famous gallery institutions.
My role was to give an informal lecture, which was held on a roof terrace in the Barrio Alto during the evening. It was a chance to share stories, ideas and experiences and to get to know these young up-and-coming artists.
In the coming months I’ll be taking part in a number of events including Nuart 07 beginning September in Norway – www.numusic.no
… and a little closer in time I have been invited to speak at Difusor the international stencil meeting – www.difusor.org taking place in Barcelona at the end of June. 84 artists from 19 countries will be attending – see you there!
