Q! Gallery

To promote the Graffiti Brasil book I have been touring an exhibition of Brazilian screenprints. The exhibition is currently in Glasgow as part of the Glasgay Festival.
Q! Gallery & Studio, 87-91 Saltmarket, Glasgow G1 5LE
The screen prints featured in the show were all commissioned and developed exclusively in collaboration with some of Sao Paulo’s most talented graffiti artists. The idea was to give artists access to the fine art screen print process.
Each print is limited to a print run of 100 and takes months of preparation. Every artist has experimented with the printing process, for example, Herbert Baglione used printed varnishes and both he and Titifreak added scratched and sprayed elements directly on to the final screens.
The final collection reflects the variety of influences and styles of the artists involved; Speto’s woodcut influenced prints, Nunca’s Amazonian motifs mixed with the lines of pichação and Zezão and Boleta’s psychedelic/organic lines.
The exhibition runs from 11th September until 9th October 2006
